Do you know about The Scarișoara Glacier Cave? Have you ever been there?
The Scarișoara Glacier Cave is in the Apuseni Mountains in Romania and is one of Europe's most impressive and largest glacial caves. The cave is about 720 meters long and contains a glacier over three thousand years old, up to twenty-five meters thick in areas. The Scarișoara Glacier Cave offers a variety of interesting rock formations such as stalactites, stalagmites, and stone columns. It is a popular tourist attraction and an important scientific objective, providing a unique opportunity to explore and understand the natural processes that underlie the formation of glaciers and, other rock formations.
Around the cave is the Pişoaia Waterfall, on a rocky threshold of crystalline limestone, surrounded by a beech forest and isolated resinous trees. The waterfall is made from a height of 18 m, with a 25 m front of the water line unfolding on the steep rock on which it flows. The waters in the area, rich in limestone, give birth to splendid limestone formations, of the Paleozoic age, which increase the spectacularity of the place. Near the waterfall, there are three gigantic boulders, sculpted by the weather, which enhance the beauty of the place and give the landscape a special picturesque aspect. Do not miss going to see this wonder of nature!
