Madoka Magica, the magic girl? is an anime series belonging to the subgenre of mahō shōjo, produced by the Shaft and Aniplex studios. Directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and written by Gen Urobuchi, it features character design by Ume Aoki and soundtrack by Yuki Kajiura.3 It began to be aired in Japan by the TBS and MBS channels. The first ten episodes were broadcast between January 6 and March 10, 2011, while the last two were postponed until April 21, 2011, due to the earthquake and tsunami in the Tōhoku region that occurred on those dates.
