A theme based upon the holy Teutonic Order of Germany.
The Teutonic Order of medieval times was a German crusading faction, comprised of the heaviest-armored and heaviest-armed professional armies the world had ever seen. Heavy infantry and mounted knights constituted the bulk of the armies, with little or no missile troops. These knights were fierce in combat, loyal at heart, and brotherly in spirit. None could stop the constant thunderous march of the Teutonic Knights in their prime.
The Teutonic Knights were not entirely military in nature. Much of their time was spent building churches and fortresses, giving aid and help to serf populations, caring for the sick and elderly in hospitals, securing land for their order as well as fellow European brothers, and chartering outposts on the fringes of Europe to repel and dissuade barbarian invasions from foreign lands.
The Teutonic Order is still running and vibrant in the heart of the German fatherland to this day. However, the Teutonic Knights no longer belong to a military order; instead devoting much of their time to peaceful service of their god.
