ara no Kyōkai is a series of light novels written by Kinoko Nasu and illustrated by Takashi Takeuchi. It is also known by the nickname of Rakkyo Kara no kyoukai was created in October 1998 as a series of five chapters, published online on the website dōjin of the creators Nasu and Takeuchi, with the last two chapters issued in the Comiket 56 of August 1999. Nasu and Takeuchi then formed Type-Moon and, in 2001, part of the book was included in Tsukihime's fandisk of 2001, "Tsukihime PLUS-DISC", which saw it gain popularity, which led to the release of a publication of dōjinshi in the Comiket 61 of December 30, 2001.
